City to host musical July 4th celebration

Get ready to celebrate Independence Day with neighbors, family, and friends, as once again the City of Mansfield will soon be holding its annual Mansfield Rock n’4th of July.

True to tradition, the event will feature a day of recreation, rockets, and rock n’ roll. Admission is free.

Family-oriented activities – including a bounce house, a ‘smash car’, an ice slide, and a game truck – will be on hand for revelers. The Diamond Club restaurant will be selling food and beverages. Also, All Funk Radio Show – a 10-member band – with its repertoire of 150 songs covering hip-hop, old school rock and roll, motown, and pop, will be performing during the evening. Free parking will be available at Newsom Stadium (East Broad Street and Highway 360) with shuttle service starting at 6:45pm and running until 11pm.

Everyone will want to bring blankets, insect repellent, lawn chairs, sunscreen, and money for drinks and food. Families might consider bringing cameras to capture the excitement of the little ones and the color of the festivities for future postcard printing. The event organizers ask that pets, coolers, and fireworks be left at home.

The fun will be had on Thursday, July 3rd, 7pm – 10pm at Big League Dreams Mansfield, at 500 Heritage Parkway South. The All Funk Radio Show performance will begin at 7:45pm. The Firework Display will start at 9:30pm.
