Lewisville will be the site for an upcoming effort to save the lives of animals who are looking for a forever home.
As part of the “Clear the Shelters” effort, an adoption event will be held soon at the Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center in Lewisville. The center is on East Valley Ridge Boulevard, and the annual event is aimed at promoting adoptions of animals so that the number being housed in shelters is reduced. All the regional animal shelters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are participating.
On the day of the event, the center plans to waive all the fees associated with a pet adoption for one pet per household. The adoption package includes free pet insurance for thirty days, pet registration for Lewisville residents, testing for heartworms (if applicable), vaccines against rabies and viruses, a microchip, and sterilization. Flyer printing is often used by veterinarians or at pet events like this to describe the benefits of pet adoption.
“Clear the Shelters” is a joint effort of stations owned by Telemundo and NBC, who partner with shelters throughout the nation. Every shelter taking part will do so on the same day, all over the country. Since 2015, over 250,000 pets have been adopted through this special event.
“Clear the Shelters” will take place from 9.30 am until 5.00 pm on August 17.
