Lewisville offered spicy time at chili cook-off
This October, Lewisville will get in touch with its hillbilly roots at the Dallas Yacht Club Hillbilly Chili Cook-Off, which will pit community members against each other in a good-natured game of spice.
The chili cook-off will encourage the community to come out to the event dressed in their best hillbilly outfits, which means overalls, handkerchiefs, boots, and the whole works. The themed event is intended as an affectionate tongue-in-cheek celebration of the city’s country heritage and to highlight the rustic flavors of chili dishes in the region.
Categories to compete in include Best Chili, Best Chili Presentation, and Best Dressed Hillbilly, which all will come with prizes and good old-fashioned bragging rights around town. Beer and chili plus additions will be served, and there will be a live band called Teddy & The Sandle Tramps playing rambunctiously good music. Members of the Dallas Yacht Club will also be able to participate in a raffle for exciting prizes.
