Lewisville prepares for community-oriented Mexican festival

The history of Lewisville was partially shaped by traditional Mexican culture, and an upcoming event in May will celebrate this influence with the help of numerous interactive attractions.

Fiesta Charra can be roughly defined as a type of Mexican rodeo. It has been practiced throughout Central America foe centuries, and Lewisville residents will soon be provided with a hands-on means to appreciate the various spectacles.

Some of the activities that are associated with this festival include a type of wrestling known as "lucha libre", a Mayan blessing ceremony performed by the Grupo Pakal dance troupe, a ballet, a jalapeno eating contest, and live music from Andrea Gotita. However, organizers claim the main attraction will be a horse jumping show that displays the prowess of professional riders.

Some of the food vendors that have confirmed their attendance include Bad Doggy Hotdogs, Del Cielo Kitchen, Simply Sipping, Tikiz Shaved Ice, Mateos Ice Cream, and JBW Vending.

Events focused around cultural themes will use a combination of traditional and innovative marketing techniques. Examples such as banner printing, flyer distribution, and social media updates are all relevant methods.

The 2026 Lewisville Fiesta Charra festival is being celebrated on Sunday, May 24th between 4 PM and 10:30 PM. All events will be hosted within the Bill Weaver Arena located at 101 Park Drive. There is no charge to attend, although on-site parking will cost $10 per vehicle.
