Local library schedules summertime activities for kids of all ages

To help parent keep their kids busy until school starts again, the Lewisville Library has scheduled a number of events throughout July for preschool and elementary age children, and for teenagers.

The library has used flyer printing to highlight the programs scheduled for the summer months, including a summer reading program. Students are challenged to either read 25 Books, read for a total of 25 hours, or read daily for 25 days. Those who achieve this and attend the library's programs can pick up a prize through August 9.

On Monday evenings at 7:00 pm, the library will host ‘Summer Specials’, designed for kids between kindergarten and fifth grade. These will take place in the Cynthia Bennett Children’s Wing. Scheduled performers and activities include Mr. Blue Shoes Show on July 20 and Critterman's Texas Tails on July 27.

The library will also host free special events designed for a preschool audience, or for children up to age six on Fridays at 11:30 am. The preschool specials will include movies, dance parties, and more fun activities for both young kids and their parents or caregivers.

Teen programs take place on Thursdays at 6:30 pm and are designed for students in grades six through twelve. Activities include making edible art on July 23 and a game night on July 30.
