Next month, Visual Art League of Lewisville (VAL) will present the Improve Your Designs Art Workshop for artists looking to hone their design skills.
The three-day workshop will be led by painter and teacher Kay Byfield, who was a college art professor for 10 years, teaching classes in watercolor and oil painting, photography, drawing, art appreciation, and design. Her watercolor paintings have been accepted into several prestigious associations, such as the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and she won Best of Show in the Southwestern Watercolor Society annual exhibition.
The workshop will teach students the basic principles and essential elements of design, along with how to use those principles in their own artwork. By participating in practical exercises, participants will gain the tools needed to make creative decisions that support the unique intention of their artwork. By the end of the workshop, students should have the confidence to make strong design choices, regardless of the media they are working in.
Art classes often involve visual teaching materials that can be easily viewed and interpreted, such as large Posters, which can easily and affordably be printed at local poster printing shops.
The design workshop is scheduled for March 7 through March 9. It will take place at the Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 North Charles. For VAL members, the cost is $300, and for nonmembers, it is $335.
