Lewisville will get the chance to experience what the holidays may have been like in the 1870s at the Christmas at the Cabin event happening next month.
Christmas at the Cabin will be hosted by the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA), which is a 2,600-acre nature park that features wetlands, hardwood forests, and activities such as hiking, kayaking, and birding. It is also home to historical buildings and structures, such as the Minor-Porter Log Cabin, which is where Christmas at the Cabin will take place.
At the event, attendees will get the chance to celebrate the holidays the old-fashioned way, as well as learn about what life was like in the area in the late 1800s. There will be a tour of the Minor-Porter Log Cabin, as well as activities such as corn husk doll-making and Christmas ornament crafting. Attendees will also learn how to make a hand-dipped candle. Entertainment includes listening to Christmas carols, and there will be plenty of hot cider to sip by a roaring campfire.
