Lewisville to hold special screening

In 1962, Lewisville stood in for the fictional Texas town of Kilkenny for an episode of the television series “Route 66.” Actors Tuesday Weld, Martin Milner, and Burt Reynolds came to Lewisville for the filming, and now that episode will be given a special screening.

The title of the episode is ‘Love is a Skinny Kid’, and it will be shown courtesy of the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau. Robin Cole-Jett, a local historian, will discuss some of the Lewisville landmarks that appeared in the show, as well as displaying photos of Lewisville “then and now” for people who attend the screening to enjoy. Residents who were living in Lewisville during the filming were interviewed for a short video that will also be shown at the event. Events like this can be even more enjoyable if organizers use flyer printing to create handouts about the subject.

Cole-Jett has been researching the history of the Southwest's Red River Valley for over 20 years. She teaches at North Central Texas College, as well as designing exhibits for museums, and giving tours of the Dallas that would have been familiar to Bonnie and Clyde.

The screening is scheduled for January 24, beginning at 7:00 pm, at the Grand Theater at Medical City Lewisville. There is no cost for the screening, but people who would like to attend need to respond to mclgrand.tix.com, as there is limited seating.
