The old is about to become the new in Lewisville, as the City Council has recently agreed to provide a Special Use Permit to Coyote Drive-In.

The locally based company aims to open a drive-in theater in the city, adding to the one it already owns in Fort Worth. The drive-in will be built from the ground up, and the company also had to have a variance request approved by the City Council, making use of crushed, recycled concrete in the drive aisles and parking areas to reduce storm water runoff.

Although an opening date has not been announced, the future looks positive for the drive-in, which has the support of the council and residents, and was praised by some council members for building in an environmentally responsible manner. The company can use poster printing to highlight the work in progress and to announce the opening date as work is completed.

When open, the drive-in will be in operation seven days a week, all year round. Along with five screens, the theater will have a casual restaurant, special events area, and play zone for the kids. Screenings are expected to begin 15 minutes after sundown each night. A double feature will be offered on each screen nightly, with a 10-minute break between each movie.

The drive-in will not be limited to people in cars, though; those traveling by foot or public transport can still watch and hear the films by sitting or standing near speakers set up beside the big screen.
