Lewisville teachers move to head of the class

The names of the finalists for Lewisville ISD Teacher of the Year 2015 have been announced, and two teachers from the local area have made the grade.

Robert Borenstein, who teaches AP United States history at Lewisville High School, and Jennifer Hadley, who teaches eighth grade English at Huffines Middle School, were both named as finalists.

This is the second time that Hadley has been recognized by the Lewisvilled ISD. As a rookie teacher in 2004, she was given the First Year Teacher of the Year award. Despite receiving recognition in the past, Hadley told the Lewisville Leader that she was “really excited” when she found out, and that it was a “huge goal” for her.

Striving to earn Teacher of the Year has pushed Hadley to make a difference in the classroom. Whether she wins or not, her school can use a local printing service to highlight her accomplishment.

This year's nomination is the second time that Robert Borenstein has received a nod from the ISD as well. Despite being put forward in the past, he was surprised to receive the honor again.

Both Hadley and Borenstein will find out if they have been named Teacher of the Year in April, when the 30th annual recognition and awards banquet is scheduled to take place. Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year for 2015 will also be announced at the April banquet.
