Better Living for Texans in Lewisville will present the Get a Taste for Reducing Food Waste Series next month to educate the public about ways to reduce food waste in their households.
Better Living for Texans serves as a nutrition education program for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) participants or those who are SNAP eligible. The organization provides research and evidence-based health, wellness, and nutrition knowledge to underserved communities to empower those families to make healthier choices. The program helps people learn how to make nutritious meals at home, save money at the grocery store, adopt better food safety habits, and improve their fitness.
Get a Taste for Reducing Food Waste is a four-part series that will teach participants what food waste is, why it happens, and how to limit its impact. Attendees will learn how to turn leftovers into new meals, how to plan meals with the food they have, and how to understand the dates on food more effectively. There will also be composting education and tips and tricks.
Educational seminars like this will often utilize educational materials such as Posters to translate the desired information, and organizers can reach out to local businesses offering poster printing to prepare for this.
The food waste series starts on Wednesday, February 7 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The seminar will be held at the Lewisville Public Library on 1197 W Main Street.
