The town of Lewisville is gearing up for two days of Western-themed fun.
E-tickets can be printed directly from the West Festival’s website, but the organizers of the festival have also worked with printing services and have made printed tickets available at a number of local businesses and city facilities, such as the public library, several rec centers, and several shops along Main Street.
A number of well-known musical acts are scheduled to perform during the two-night event. Country-rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd takes the stage as the headlining act on the first night, while the headliner the following evening is Wade Bowen.
Another highlight of the festival is the World Tamale Eating Championship. Now in its 11th year, the eating contest is sponsored by Market Street. Joey Chestnut has won the contest every year since 2012, setting a record in 2012 by eating 102 tamales (traditional Mesoamerican wraps) in 12 minutes.
Other events during the festival include mechanical bull rides, a Kid Kountry playground area, and a cattle drive parade.
On the days of the festival, the tickets will get a person into the festival free of charge during certain hours. On September 25, the tickets are good for free admission between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. On September 26, free admission is possible from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. After 7:00 pm on both nights, there is a $10 admission charge. Children under the age of 10 are always free.
