Lewisville plans colorful event

Lewisville will be the place to be soon for an event that celebrates art of all kinds.

The Lewisville ColorPalooza is still going ahead as of the time of writing, and will feature sidewalk chalk art, musical performances, artists creating works on the day of the festivities, and an artisan market. An Amateur Art contest gives participants the chance to show off their best work with chalk, as they create a 6' x 6' artwork on the sidewalk. Participants' creations will be displayed for a year on the Lakeside Arts Foundation website.

In the Interactive Art section, participants include family yoga demos by Blue Anjou, cookie decorating demonstrated by Tesora Baking, sculptures and rock painting from Teaching Artist Network, Latin crafts and arts from Representa Foundation, and fine art classes by Mission Renaissance. People will be able to make their own bookmarks with Makers on Main, or learn calligraphy from Kouka Calligraphy, and there are even more activities planned.

In Eco Alley, people can talk to experts in green building, courtesy of the USGBC North Texas Chapter. Representatives from two Lewisville departments, the Office of Stormwater and the Office of Sustainability will be available, as will representatives from the Denton County Master Gardener Association. Non-profit organizations and vendors, including those serving up BBQ and shaved ice, will also be taking part in the fun.

The ColorPalooza will take place April 18, from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm, in Old Town Lewisville, although checking the listing is advisable. Banner printing can provide colorful, weather-resistant decorations for events like this.
