Lewisville nonprofit looking for volunteers

Make-A-Difference day is fast approaching, and Keep Lewisville Beautiful is on the lookout for a few great volunteers.

During the annual event, now in its 25th year, volunteers will plant wildflowers along a trail at the Lewisville Independent School District Outdoor Learning Area. The goal is to plant more than 1,000 flowers, all of which are native to Texas. During the day, volunteers will also help remove invasive species and brush near the trails, and will complete a variety of other projects, such as sealing picnic benches to protect them from water damage. Keep Lewisville Beautiful's Make-a-Difference Day is scheduled to coincide with Keep America Beautiful's Get Growing Day, and with the national version of Make-a-Difference.

The organization can use Mailing services to reach out to and recruit volunteers for the event. People who wish to help out can register online, by email, or over the phone. When registering, volunteers are asked to include the number of people who plan on participating in a group.

Keep Lewisville Beautiful is also looking for businesses to sponsor the event. Business sponsorships start at $100, which goes towards purchasing seeds, soil products, and supplies such as gloves and water.

Make-a-Difference Day is scheduled for October 17, from 9:00 am until 11:30 am and will take place at 101 Holford’s Prairie/Fish Hatchery Road. Volunteers will receive breakfast, snacks, and a free T-shirt.
