Volunteers at the annual Trinity Trash Bash in Lewisville have seen the many Forms little can take, and are set for another cleanup challenge.
Those participating have found so many strange items over the years that the organizers of the event now give out prizes to the group that finds the oddest piece of trash.
In recent years, volunteers have uncovered film reels, a check for $8,000, trampolines, and a Mardi Gras figurine complete with cash inside it, according to Amy Wells, the executive director for Keep Lewisville Beautiful, one of the three organizers behind this year's cleanup.
People who want to take a crack at finding something weird at Lewisville Lake Park still have the chance to sign up. The organizers, which include the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area and the city of Lewisville, are also looking for vendors and sponsors for the event. The organizers could use brochure printers to spread the word about the cleanup and to encourage people to volunteer.
This year's event will take place at the Catfish, a picnic area with a playground and restrooms. The cleanup will focus on the lake's shore. Those over the age of 12 will also be able to participate in a kayak cleanup, collecting litter from the Trinity River. Volunteers will do more than just pick up trash. Some of the activities will include distributing supplies and separating recyclable items from rubbish.
The cleanup will be on November 15, from 8:00 am until 11:00 am.Get a Free Quote for Forms
