Lewisville goes green for the holidays

Residents of Lewisville will have plenty of opportunities this season to learn more about the world around them, thanks to the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning area (LLELA), which will hold a number of nature-focused activities this month.

On December 13, early risers will be able to attend a bird walk, catching sight of ducks, wintering sparrows, and other winged creatures. The walk begins at 7:30 am and is $7 per person. Reservations are not needed, but participants should be over the age of 10. The walk will give people a chance to visit birding spots that usually closed to the public.

People who prefer to sleep in can still enjoy a walk through nature on December 13. Starting at 10:00 am, a naturalist will take participants on a guided tour of the Cicada Trail, looking for Signs of animals, such as tracks. No reservations are needed, but the cost of the walk is $7 per participant.

On December 20, a Homestead Christmas event will take place at the Minor Porter Log House from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm. The event will offer a tour of the house, music, and a number of craft projects, such as making candles, ornaments, or a corn husk doll. The event is open to all and admission is $5.

Organizations like LLELA often use brochure printers to create informational packets in the buildup to events like these.
