Lewisville event to help residents with tax preparation

Next month, United Way of Denton County will hold the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Income Tax Preparation event to help residents prepare their tax returns.

The United Way of Denton County is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization that is a local affiliate of the global United Way organization. The organization is made up of donors and volunteers working to make a difference in the lives of people living in Denton County. These efforts include organizing beneficial events such as the tax assistance event happening in January.

The workshop will offer free tax preparation assistance to all residents with incomes up to $60,000. The assistance will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so no appointment is required. Attendees will need to bring a social security card or ITIN card for all individuals listed on tax return, a photo ID with the name of taxpayer and spouse, employment documents such as W2s or 1099s, and any other tax-related documents that the IRS may need.

The free tax assistance event is scheduled for January 27 from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. It will be held at the Lewisville Public Library, which is located at 1197 West Main Street.
