Lewisville bookstore holds kids creative class series

Lewisville’s own Kindred Creatives Art and Literary Press will hold the Kids’ Create Summer Camp: Kawaii & Squishmallows Art Class in June.

Kindred Creatives Art and Literary Press is a local bookstore and creatives shop run and operated by BICOP (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), and it features this representation in its curated selection of Books and art. It houses a creative collective market where entrepreneurs can sell their products and donate a portion of their proceeds to the bookstore and its programs. There is also a makerspace that provides workshop, art classes, and expressive activities.

The camp series will run through June, with each week focusing on a different art-related theme. This featured event will be centered on the art of Kawaii and Squishmallows, a Japanese style of cute plushies. The students will take inspiration from Squishmallows to recreate their cuteness on paper and canvas. The class will be repeated four times a week, but the lesson will be the same.

Kids’ activities often include a variety of printed graphics such as Posters to facilitate learning, which makes businesses specializing in banner printing attractive options for organizers of such events.

The Kawaii & Squishmallows Art Class is scheduled for June 13 through 16. Kindred’s Creatives is located on 2401 S Stemmons Freeway, #2130. The $25 registration fee includes snacks and supplies
