Fest O Theatre 2018 coming to Lewisville

DFW Play is getting ready to present its second Bengali drama festival, Fest O'Theatre 2018, at Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater. The festival features three original works from Dallas, Houston, and Columbus, Ohio, and a production by teens.

The three new works are ‘The Promise’, which will be presented by Onnyo Theater from Columbus, Ohio; ‘Tentulgachh’ (‘Tamarind Tree’); and ‘The Hunt’, which will be performed by DFW Play itself.

‘The Promise’ is based on an episode from ‘And the Mountains Echoed’, a novel by Khaled Hosseini, who also wrote ‘The Kite Runner’. The play asks whether a promise made decades ago in a war-torn land has any relevance to life in Chicago today. The protagonist, Asmaan, takes the audience on a journey through his inner conflicts as he tries to answer that question.

‘Tentulgachh’ examines the sticky relationships among family members. The play was written by Houston's Natua Natyagoshthi, and is being jointly produced by the Tagore Society of Houston, and Natyagoshthi.

‘The Hunt’ is a murder mystery, and the teen production, ‘Tears in Heaven’, is a docu-drama about the issue of gun control in the United States from the point of view of the young people.

The festival is set for Saturday, June 23, at 2:15 pm.

Events like this can be even more enjoyable if organizers work with a flyer printing company to create a handout describing the works.
