As summer gets underway, people in Lewisville and the area around Dallas-Fort Worth are being given the opportunity to give back to their communities.
First Choice Emergency Room and the North Texas Food Bank have joined forces and are holding a food drive to help provide to hungry people in the community. Summer is usually a time of high demand on food banks and pantries, because school aged children no longer have access to breakfasts or lunches provided by schools. Although demand is high, donations tend to drop in the summer.
All of the locations of First Choice ER, including the one in Lewisville, will be acting as drop-off locations for the food. The ER is also matching the donations made by members of the community. First Choice and the North Texas Food Bank could use banner printing to direct people to the drop-off sites at each ER.
Several items are in high demand during the summer, including canned soups, chili, and stews with a low-sodium content. Dried or canned beans, canned tuna, and canned or dried fruit are also gratefully accepted.
The number of First Choice facilities can make it particularly easy for people to bring in a canned good or two for donation. With the drive concluding this Sunday, June 14, all of the ERs are open at all hours of the day until then.
