Sunny Sweeney, a native of Houston, went to school in Austin and formed her own band after college. They began playing in Austin, and then throughout the state, as well as touring Europe.
Her appearances gained her a number of fans, and Big Machine Records, an independent label, signed her, reissuing her debut album, “Heartbreaker's Hall of Fame” on that label a year after she had released it independently. The album, and three singles from it, made the charts in Texas.
Sweeney made the national charts with her single “From a Table Away,” which debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at number 58, eventually climbing into the Top 10. In addition, the Academy of Country Music Awards nominated Sweeney as “Top New Female Artist.”
Sweeney's background, from starting out singing in bars to signing with a major label and writing her own material have given her a rare reputation—a singer who has been validated by the mainstream and yet retains her street cred.
Rolling Stone Magazine said:
“Sweeney is one of the rare entertainers who can hold her own at CMA Fest as well as AmericanaFest.”
Sweeney will be in Lewisville at the MCL Grand on July 18, at 8.00 pm. This is a concert rescheduled from March 21, and brochure printing can provide attractive programs for this type of event.
