Celebrate St. Patrick's DayTexas Style

Texans party differently, and are celebrating two special days at the same time.

Residents and visitors to Lewisville have a chance to party in honor of both Ireland and Texas, at a party that rolls St. Patrick's Day and Texas Independence Day into one huge celebration. Texas Independence Day celebrates the day, March 2, 1836, on which the Texas Declaration of Independence was adopted, formally making Texas independent from Mexico. The day is not a formal state holiday, since offices will be open, but with a smaller staff.

St. Patrick's Day is March 14, and both events will be celebrated on that date, at the Wayne Ferguson Plaza. Admission is free, and events include live entertainment, children's activities such as face painting, bounce houses, and a zip line 40 feet long.

Appearing on the Sloan & Williams Winery Stage are the Inishfree School of Irish Dance; a tribute band for Phil Collins; Beyond the Pale; Chaz Marie; The Selkie Girls; and JB and the Moonshine Band. Food vendors are Pop's Kettle Corn, TM Ice Cream, The Pink Company, and HDSmokedGoods.

People are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, and leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome. There is free parking in lots in Old Town and at City Hall, but there is no vaping or smoking allowed.

The fun is set for March 14 from 12.00 pm until 7.30 pm. Flyer printing can be used to provide handouts for attendees of events like this.
