A noted bluesman is coming to Lewisville as part of the Texas Tunes series.
Jimmie Vaughn has been playing the blues for more than 50 years. The blues is a specific musical genre, sometimes described as a mixture of pain and pleasure. Vaughn has made it his mission to make certain the blues live and thrive.
Vaughn has been playing guitar since he was in high school, performing in the Hob Knob Lounge in Dallas most nights. He was in several bands in the 1960s, and learned that he should be playing the music he loved: the blues. With that realization, he went to Austin and joined other bluesmen who were similarly dedicated to the craft.
He found fame in the 1980s as part of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, but left to follow his own path to various ways of playing the blues. His work is continuing to pay off today; he has been nominated as 2020's Best Male Blues Artist by Billboard Music Awards, and his album “Baby, Please Come Home,” got a 2020 Grammy nomination.
Vaughn will be at the Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater Grand in Lewisville on August 29, from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm. This is a new date, as the concert was first scheduled for June 20. Brochure printing can provide programs for events like this.
