DFW Play will be presenting Fest O'Theatre soon in Lewisville, with three original Bengali plays from Dallas, Houston, and Seattle, plus a Youth Theater production.
This festival is the third such annual event in the Dallas area. The plays that will be presented this year are DFW Play's own ‘Mohua’, ‘Chotushkone’ (presented by Houston Natua), and Seattle Theaterwalla's ‘Lagle Bolben’. The three each represent a different genre. Organizers of festivals like this can use poster printing to crease colorful advertisements for the event.
‘Mohua’ is a classic tragedy taken from Dwija Kanai's folk ballads, which were compiled later by Dr. Dinesh Chandra Sen. The directorial reins are in the hands of Rajarshi Bhattacharyya.
Chotushkone, which comes to Lewisville from Houston Natua, was written by Bratya Basu, and is a thriller. The play presents a complex plot in which four directors, also old friends, come together to make four independent films, all with the same theme – death.
Seattle Theaterwala is presenting Lagle Bolben, a romantic comedy. In the tradition of this genre, the play features a series of misunderstandings, with people falling in love with the wrong people. Arun Mukhopadhyay wrote the play, and directorial duties are shared by Sujoy Chattopadhyay and Rumela Ganguly.
The Youth Theater production deals with issues facing teens including difficulties in school, substance abuse, mental health, developing an individual identity, and thoughts of suicide.
The festival is set for this Saturday, April 20, beginning at 2:15 pm, and Medical Center Lewisville Grand Theater on North Charles.
