Artists popping up in Lewisville

Lewisville residents and visitors have a chance to meet and talk to artists about the work they do at a series of pop-up events in the heart of the city.

Art Pop-ups in the Plaza recently started a series of afternoon meetings in Wayne Ferguson Plaza, each one featuring a particular artist. Although the series is now underway, there are still events coming up that people can enjoy.

The artists featured in the series might be painting, creating art-trading cards, sketching, working in three dimensions, performing music, performing works of the spoken word, or more. If the weather turns rainy, the event moves inside, to the MCL Grand on North Charles Street. Flyer printing can be used to provide biographical information and descriptions of the works at events like this.

The Art Pop-ups program was begun to continue the development of both the plaza and Old Town Lewisville, transforming them into destinations for visitors, and is one of the initiatives set forth in the Lewisville 2025 Vision Plan.

The urban plaza is a 1.5 acre park featuring an interactive splash pad, a seating area with a number of levels, an elevated stage, and a garden full of wildflowers and wild grasses.

The two remaining dates are the next two Saturdays, October 26 and November 2, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Further information can be found on the Wayne Ferguson Plaza page on Facebook.
