The Waugh Drive Bridge is home to a colony of Mexican free-tailed bats, and it is estimated that the city boasts a population of these animals that numbers in the hundreds of thousands. A schedule of tours will visit the location in person at dusk, and there are four dates on the agenda.
The Buffalo Bayou Partnership has seats available in its Bat Boat Tours, and these will be on offer in July and August only. Along with an opportunity to view the spectacle of hundreds of thousands of bats flying from out on the water, the function will share details about their lives and ecology.
