Annual festival emphasizes science education

The annual Energy Day festival is taking place in Houston next month.

The festival is for the entire family but is aimed at children from K to grade 12 in particular. Its aim is to promote the importance of energy and careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

There will be over 70 different exhibits from organizations such as the University of Houston, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Geophysical Society, the Houston Green Chamber of Commerce, and the Consumer Energy Education Foundation. Visitors will have the opportunity to see various scientific demonstrations and get to try some experiments for themselves. They will also be able to meet with several subject experts and have their questions answered. Information will likely be available on subjects like conservation, alternative energy, and the opportunities for a career in the sciences.

There will also be musical entertainment, food and drink for purchase, and contests with prizes. The youngest children will be able to participate in a variety of fun activities too.

To help spread the word, organizers may invest in poster printing services from a favorite Houston Print company.

Energy Day will be held at Sam Houston Park on October 15 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. To find out the latest information about this event, contact Kathleen Van Keppel at 713-337-8802.
