Fitness and outdoor retailer Dick’s Sporting Goods has opened a location in Houston, and its Grand Opening celebration included country music star Carrie Underwood.
Over the three-day event, the company had appearances from a variety of stars and celebrities, while also offering customers the chance to learn more their clothing lines and lines of fitness accessories.
During the celebration, the company also highlighted its initiative, called ‘Sports Matter’. Over the past two years, the company’s Sporting Goods Foundation has raised more than $50m to help increase awareness of the importance of sports for kids, as well as support specific teams. A total of 60 teams and leagues around Houston have received assistance from the sporting goods company.
The event was to celebrate the opening of six new locations for Dick’s Sporting Goods, as well as two of its Field & Stream locations, and two specialty Galaxy Golf locations. CEO Edward W. Stack said that he was pleased the company was entering the Houston market in such a significant way.
Along with Underwood, visitors were able to see Jason Aldean, Kerri Walsh Jennings, Roger Clemens, Brian Cushing, David Feherty, Phil Robertson, and others. Customers and visitors had the chance to win a variety of Promotional Products and giveaways, including gift cards and sports equipment.
