Recently opened exhibition showcases print professionals

The exhibition ‘The Americas: Our Stories’, or ‘Las Americas: Nuestras Historias’ to give it its Spanish title, recently opened in Houston and is continuing until the end of August.

The exhibition is presented by PrintMatters Houston and the Print Houston 2019 Biennial, and demonstrates the work of artists from the US and the South American nation of Colombia. Members of PrintMatters Houston and Las Estampa, a printmaking studio located in Medellin, Colombia will be showcasing their works.

The show will feature works created by a variety of printmaking techniques such as etching and relief. The works of arts will also highlight specifics about the lives the artist lead in their counties. The participating artists in the exhibition include Andis Applewhite, Melanie Leslie and Kelly Moran of PrintMatters Houston; and La Estampa members Maria Adelaida Correa, Jorge Alberto Rodriguez, and Pablo Guzman. There will be over 30 artists in all.

This free exhibition will give the public an opportunity to view various types of printmaking techniques from both the United States and Latin America. It will likely appeal to those who are currently working in the printing or graphic design industry.

The show will be on display at the Cindy Lisica Gallery until August 31. The gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free. Call 713-807-7760 for more information.
