New Years Eve celebration recreates Berlin in the 1700s

The New Year’s Eve in Berlin celebration, a presentation of Ars Lyrica, will round of 2017 in the area.

The event recreates the Berlin salon of Sara Itzig Levy, which hosted many of the last 1700s literary and musical giants. These included sons of Bach, and Felix Mendelssohn who was Levy’s grandnephew.

The evening will start off with a pre-concert dinner in the Founders Club at the Hobby Center beginning at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $76.50 each.

This will be followed by a musical program at 9:00 PM that is set to feature W. F. Bach’s flute concerto and C. P. E. Bach’s double concerto. The soloists for the performance will be Matthew Dirst, Colin St. Martin and Marco Aschauer. Tickets for the concert are $58.50.

The celebration will finish off with a gala reception after the musical program at approximately 10:15 PM. Tickets for this cost $67.50.
