There are a couple of live performances taking place on New Year's Eve in Houston that will celebrate the years gone by.
Kuumba: a Celebration of Afro-Dance is the first event taking place is a presentation of Dance Afrikana and Fresh Arts. The performance is a celebration of the past, Africa, the African diaspora, and Kwanzaa. Those taking part in this seven-hour performance include Dance Afrika, the Ajalaiye Dance Troup, Groupo Folklorico Raices de Panama, and Batala. It will be an educational way for the entire family to welcome in the New Year.
Later that evening, the Venetian Carnival will take place. Hosted by Ars Lyrica Houston, it features a pre-concert dinner, a concert, and a post-concert party. The concert will honor the legacy of Antonio Vivaldi with concertos featuring flutes and solo violins. The after-concert party will have entertainment provided by a DJ.
