Local charities benefit from best chicken

The 2nd annual Southern Fried Chicken Fest is taking place next month in Houston. A portion of proceeds will be donated to several local charities.

Hosted by Phil Wade, the event will feature several competitions, live musical entertainment, and cooking seminars.

The public will be able to enjoy a Fried Chicken Showdown and will have the opportunity to vote on the Most Creative Fried Chicken Dish and the Best Fried Chicken. There will also be a wing eating contest to the public, with cash bars on hand to help cleanse the palate.

Musical guests who will be performing this year are Step Rideau and The Zydeco Outlaws, Blaze X Black, and Merium Echo.

Vendors will also be on hand to sell arts and crafts, clothing, food and dessert. Fees are $400 for food and $200 for the others.

VIP tickets are available for $75 and include access to a special lounge, a T-shirt, a souvenir mug, a gift bag and one food entree and side.

Houston flyer printing firms are often asked to provide advertising materials for events such as this festival.

The Southern Fried Chicken Fest will be held at Peggy Park on June 1 from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. General admission tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under the age of 18. To learn more, visit the event website.
