Knights to remember with June joust

The International Jousting Tournament is taking place in the Houston area for two days next month. Proceeds from the event will support SIRE Therapeutic Horsemanship.

The tournament is set to feature five live jousts, battles, and skills and knowledge courses. The public is invited to watch rehearsals, as well as participate in question and answer sessions with the knights.

Among those who will be giving special performances during the tournament are the Houston Mounted Patrol, the Mini Ventures, the Shadow Hawk Blades, and the Lone Star Vaulters. There will also be a demonstration by SIRE Therapeutic Horsemanship, as well as an auction.

Other activities will include Jumping Orie Storytime and a Saturday Night feast. Camping is available on the tournament grounds.

This event will attract visitors from all over the Houston area. To make sure they know about it, organizers might work with local poster printing companies to create a piece that can be distributed throughout the community.

The International Jousting Tournament will be held at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy from June 12 to 13 from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm each day. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children, or two-day family passes are available for $150. VIP passes are also available for $250, including prime seating. The Saturday Night Feast costs $75 per person or $200 for VIP. Call 281-356-7588 to find out more.
