The 1st In a Pickle Festival will be held early next month in the Houston area.
The festival is celebrating all types of pickles. There will be plenty of activities taking place, including a pickle drinking contest for adults (the entry fee is $10) or a pickle eating contest ($5 entry). There will also be a home-canning pickling contest with categories for sweet and dill. The public can show off their pets at the Pickled Pet Parade (for $5) and the kids' can take part in the free coloring contest. Cash prizes and trophies are awarded for all the competitions.
Arts and crafts vendors will be on hand to sell their handmade items like jewelry, pet products and clothing; each vendor must sell at least one pickle-related item. Food trucks will also be on hand.
There will be musical entertainment and a silent auction, with proceeds going to support Cure for Connor. For the kids, there will be face painting and a jump house, while brave or foolish adults can take on a mechanical bull.
This event will probably be popular in the Houston area and local flyer printing companies are often asked to provide marketing items for such festivals.
The festival is at Kingwood Town Center Park on September 7 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. To learn more, call 512-796-8857.
