Houston venue set to carry the can

CityCentre, a mixed-use development in Houston, will serve as host for the fifth year in a row for the unique design and building competition known as ‘Canstruction’.

This one-of-a-kind event is run by Canstruction Inc, which is a national charity addressing the needs of the millions who suffer each day from hunger. This event encourages teams to build sculptures (known as ‘Cansculptures’) using thousands of cans of food to create their masterpieces.

Teams are made up of local architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and students. These talented individuals should keep on hand some custom Business Cards as they could likely be recruited for other events wanting to showcase their talents.

The teams work together to create their designs, which cannot be larger than 10’ x 20’ x 8’ and must be constructed within a nine-hour period solely using cans. Each Cansculpture will be judged in a variety of categories.

The purpose of the event is to provide public awareness and fulfill the needs of local Food Banks by filling their shelves with donations.

Canstruction Houston 2015 will be held on November 14 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the CityCentre in Houston. The exhibits are open to the public and the cost of admission is one canned good. All donations, including the cans used for the sculptures, are provided to the Houston Food Bank.
