Houston to smarten up with art

A special event known as ‘Artsploration’ is scheduled in Houston at Discovery Green next month. The educational art event will showcase over 20 artists and displays, offer educational presentations for local teachers, and provide children’s activities.

Artsploration was created to work with principals, administrators, educators, PTA members, and leaders, in addition to parents, children, and supporters of the community program.

Visual arts workshops have been designed for elementary, middle, and high school levels. Several community schools participate in the Young Audiences of Houston residency program and other afterschool activities.

Some of the activities at Artsploration for children will include face painting, creative writing silkscreen printing, and live performance encouraging interactive participation. Local Print companies often work with coordinators of events such as this in providing printing services to help market and manage efficiently.

Discovery Green Park is located on 12 acres and since opening a few years ago, it has hosted more than two million visitors as well as several hundred events. It is located in the downtown area of Houston at 1500 McKinney bear George R. Brown Convention center.

Staff members and artists will be available to discuss various programming and funding options as well as for answering questions. There is no charge to attend the event. Teachers and other education are eligible to receive Continuing Professional Education credits through attending Artsploration. Educators must pre-register, which they can do through the event website.

Complete information is available via the event website. For further questions, please call 713-520-9267. It takes place on May 18 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
