Houston home chefs to sharpen knife skills

Knowing how to correctly use a knife can prevent kitchen accidents, and a Houston workshop will offer the opportunity for the public to improve their cutting skills.

Central Market Houston has scheduled a class that will be all about knives, including how to choose the right one for the task at hand. The activity is open to those age 18 and up, with those aged 21 and up getting a glass of wine to enjoy during it.

The attendees will be taught how to choose a good-quality knife, and tips for caring for kitchen implements will be shared. After this, they will get in some hands-on practice at chopping, slicing, julienning, and dicing, all while the facilitators prepare a meal. The group will share the food at the end of the session. The activity is one of a menu of learning opportunities available at Houston’s Central Market Cooking School.

Tickets for the workshop are $85 each and are still available at the time of writing. Recipe cards, certificates of completion, waivers, and other documents for a class can be crafted by area Stationery printers.

Houston’s home chefs who would like to their knife skills to make the cut are welcome to register for this activity, which will be held on Saturday, October 5. It will begin at 11:00 am, and everyone is asked to arrive five minutes ahead of time.
