For many home horticulturalists, there is nothing quite like biting into a freshly picked tomato still warm from the sun. A workshop will help more Houston gardeners enjoy this experience for themselves.
Hope Farms offers the public variety of workshops to help them get growing, and one with a focus on the care and culture of tomatoes is on the way for December. Closed-toed shoes are mandatory to attend the function, and everyone will walk away from the session with a new tomato seedling to help them get started.
The Tomato Master Class will be led by a facilitator with many years of experience in caring for this popular fruit, though it is usually served and thought of as a vegetable. The participants will find out how to take full advantage of the local climate and microclimates so they can achieve a high yield, and there will be a discussion of which cultivars tend to perform best in the area.
Many people would like to get started at growing some of their own food. Home horticulture classes may prove helpful to them, and Copies of handouts and other learning materials may be sourced from a brochure printing company.
This opportunity for the public to learn some new tricks and techniques when it comes to growing tomatoes is scheduled for December 10. It will be on offer at 10401 Scott Street.
