The Reel Abilities film and arts festival is taking place in Houston next month for 10 days, and is presented by the JDS Alexander Institute for Inclusion and the Mayor’s Office for People With Disabilities.
Screenings will take place at several venues in the city, including the AD Players Theater and the Center for Art and Photography at Celebration Center.
The festival is aimed at celebrating those who are living with various mental and physical disabilities. In addition to film screenings, there will also be musical performances, art exhibitions, and speakers. In addition, there will be seminars and workshops for local businesses.
Among the musical performers will be Jen Bricker, Amanda Boxtel and Eric Weihenmayer. Films showing will include ‘Far from the Tree’, ‘Unstuck’, and ‘Leo and Caro’.
The festival will kick off with a preview at the Center for Art and Photography at Celebration Center on February 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. It will feature artist Ezra Roy. Also, it will start off an art exhibition which will run from February 13 until April 19.
