Oktoberfest Houston is taking place on the last Saturday of next month. Like Oktoberfest festivals around the world, it is a celebration of German culture, food and beer.
There will be plenty of traditional food for sale, such as bratwurst and sauerkraut, as well as German and local craft beers. There will also be a variety of family-friendly activities, contests, and musical entertainment. Among those artists who will be performing at this year’s festival are Enzian Buam, Europfest, and Yodel Blitz. There be folk dancing too.
One popular activity will be the 7th annual Oktoberfest Games where teams of two compete in the Stein Race, the Barrel Race, the Legendary Brat Toss, and Stein Hoisting. There will also be contests for Best Dressed, Chicken Dance, and Yodeling. In addition, the public can compete in a beer pong tournament ($60 fee for a team of two) or a flip cup tournament ($80 for a team of four).

Complete with a children’s fun run as well, Oktoberfest Houston will be held at The Waterworks at Buffalo Bayou on September 29 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and VIP tickets are also available. Visit the event website for the most current information.
