Event set to showcase California wines in Houston

The Sonoma in the City Houston event is taking place next month in downtown Houston It is presented by the Sonoma County Vintners and the Sonoma County Winegrowers.

More than 250 wines, which represent 66 wineries and 17 separate districts, will be showcased during the evening. Guests will enjoy wine samples, appetizers, artisan cheeses and charcuterie (cold meats).

Two seminars are also being held. The first one, which will be held before the tasting, is an AVAs seminar and is set to showcase the wines of four American Viticultural Areas. Attendees will get to sample wine from each area. The next is ‘Grape to Grape: A Sensory Exploration of Sustainable Wines’ and will highlight the steps that a winery has to take in order to become sustainable. Guests will sample the wines discussed. It will be led by Karissa Kruse, president of the Sonoma County Winegrowers. The cost for each seminar is $25 and is in addition to event tickets.

This event is bound to interest wine lovers in the Houston area. In order to spread the word, local flyer printing firms may be asked to supply marketing materials.
