Event gives a quick lesson on opera

The Opera in the Heights 20th anniversary celebration is being held next month in Houston. It is part of Silver Street Studios ‘Second Saturday’.

The afternoon will be hosted by Michael Raak. Visitors will attend two short opera performances, and purchase food and drinks from food trucks such as Wokker Texas Ranger and Chocolate Wasted. There will also be free samples of beer while they last, a showcase of the creation of costumes, and set designs and raffles. In addition, visitors can learn all about the productions planned for the Opera in the Heights upcoming season.

There will be a special VIP event hosted by the Opera's Young Opera Lovers Organization (YOLO) in the Flashback Films’ studio. Those who attend will receive swag Bags, partake in several activities and learn about how the organization can benefit them.

This event should be a good introduction to opera and will likely convince many Houston residents to attend at least one full-scale production. To make sure as many people as possible know about it, area Stationery printers may provide Flyers, Posters, and Brochures.

The Opera in the Heights 20th anniversary celebration will be held at Silver Street Studios on August 8 beginning at 2:00 pm. Admission is free of charge. To learn more about this event, and other ‘Second Saturday’ events, call 713-861-5303.
