The 2015 Houston Art Car Parade is being held in the spring of this year. The 28th annual event celebrates artistic masterpieces on wheels.
Organizers of the show are hopeful that setting the date in April will encourage more participation than previously held parades in May. With this in mind, future Houston Art Car Parades are scheduled for an April weekend as well.
Among the biggest free admission events in the city, the parade had approximately 300,000 attendees last year. More than 270 exhibitors in the parade participated including people with cars, trucks, bikes, and even skates, since anything with wheels is accepted. Youth organizations and schools often participate in the event too.
Last year, $17,000 in prizes was given out via a judging course managed by the Orange Show Center for Visionary Arts. Parade events often have a need for banner printing, which can be ordered through a local Print company.
The 2015 Houston Art Car Parade is scheduled for April 9 to 12. The Main Street Drag event has scheduled points throughout Houston, and the Sneak Peek will be at Discovery Green.
On April 10, The Art Car Ball will be presented by Arts Brookfield, the VIP Party will take place on April 11 on Allen Parkway, and Smither Park will be the location for the Houston Art Car Parade Awards Ceremony on April 12.
