Annual cookoff to support local charities

The 7th annual Kosher Chili Cookoff is taking place next month in Houston. Funds raised will be donated to several local charities.

Teams of chilli makers will be competing for cash prizes and trophies. The entrance fee is $500 to compete and every team must supply samples to the public. The top three will receive awards; they will also be competing for the Showmanship and Spirit Award and the Joshua Berry People’s Choice Award.

In addition, there will be live entertainment throughout the afternoon, fun contests and family-friendly activities. Some of these activities will include a moonwalk, a climbing wall and balloon artists. There will also be a jalapeno eating contest and a silent auction.

Vendors will also be on hand to sell a variety of handmade arts and crafts and general merchandise. Vendor spaces are available for $150 each.

Sponsorships are available for sale for $500 up to $18,000. Sponsors will be recognized at the event through signage likely provided by a Houston printing company.

The Kosher Chili Cookoff will be held at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston on February 26 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children between the ages of 4 and 12. To find out more about the cookoff, to become a vendor or to sponsor the event, call 713-588-4130.
