The Houston Humane Society has issued a challenge to both itself and the city at large that will help to keep the city’s population of unwanted, abandoned, and feral cats under control.
The organization will be running its “Fix Felix” challenge, aimed at male cats. Anyone interested can reserve a spot with a non-refundable deposit of $5, and up to four cats per household can be accommodated.
The organizers are hoping to neuter at least 500 cats during this “fix-athon”, which will be held at 14700 Almeda Road. As both domesticated and feral cats will be welcome, it may be a valuable opportunity for those who look after feral felines.
Each furry friend needs to be in a carrier or plastic crate. Distemper vaccines will be on the house, despite having a $24 value. Either proof of a current rabies vaccine must be supplied or the shots need to be given on site – they are available for $10 each.
To help the activity run smoothly, a registration system is in place. A poster printing company can be tasked with preparing materials that build public awareness about an upcoming activity.
The crew at the Houston Humane Society are hoping to help keep the cat population under control by running its Fix Felix challenge on Wednesday, April 22. Its website provides a registration link.
