Houston home horticulturalists to grow top tomatoes

While northern cities are entering their annual deep freeze, Houston gardeners can still enjoy lots of sunshine and warmth, and an upcoming workshop will help home gardeners to make the most of the opportunity.

With the winter solstice nearing, days will soon start to get longer, making it a good time to plant a tomato crop. These light loving plants thrive in the sun and may be easier to grow than many might expect. This workshop hosted by Hope Farms will point the way, offering tips and advice

The registrants for the Tomato Master Class will discover how some of the best cultivars for going in Houston, and the attendees will also be taught techniques for seed starting. Everyone will go home with a seedling to care for.

The activity is for adults only. Tickets are by donation, and the suggested amount is $45.00.

A horticultural class can help to take some of the mystery out of successful home gardening, and make participants realise that the process is simpler than they might expect. Hope Farms will be offering this introduction to growing top tomatoes beginning at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 10th. It will run for two hours.
