While they may appear fragile, several species of butterflies in North America are long distance flying champions, and one of the best known will be the focus of a Houston event.
Houston Botanic Garden has teamed up with Open Dance Project to bring “Flutter: The Monarch Butterfly Project” to the community. It will be held at the Susan Garver Family Discovery Garden in early October, and all ages are encouraged to stop by.
The activity will give the public a sneak peek into the lives of these long distance migrators, which may travel hundreds of miles during their migration from their breeding areas as far north as Canada to their winter homes. Some of them pass through Texas on their way south. There will be three new monarch-themed sculpture installations on site as well as dance shows that highlight their life cycle.
Community events of any size may be able to put the services of Print shops to good use. They can prepare everything from backdrops for plays and other performances, to small Promotional Products that may be sold as fundraising items, as well as a full line of other custom goods.
Flutter: The Monarch Butterfly Project will be giving a salute to these determined fliers on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1. It will be on offer at 1 Botanic Lane. Tickets for the function may be purchased now.
