Fort Worth participates in White Cane Day
Being visually impaired presents a variety of challenges, and Fort Worth will be one of many communities across the state that will be taking part in an initiative that will be all about advocacy.
The city’s White Cane Day of North Texas event will be on offer at The Cowboy Hat, and it will showcase inclusion and also how those who are blind or have a visual impairment contribute to their community. The general public has been invited to get involved, and it's free to do so.
The activity will kick off with a symbolic walk that follows a route to Tarrant County Court House, and it will be the time for a short program of remarks and presentations. This will be followed by a festival style celebration that includes booths and displays erected by an assortment of community service groups that foster inclusion and accessibility.
Events for those who are blind may require custom designed and constructed signage that includes Braille lettering. This can be prepared by print shops that utilize specialized printing technology, and there are options that may be used both indoors and outside.
Fort Worth will be joining communities in celebrating inclusion and advocacy when it participates in White Cane Day of North Texas on October 11th. More information for anyone interested in joining the fun is available on the Downtown Fort Worth Inc. website.
