Philadelphia workshop to share secrets of successful veggie growing

For many foodies, there’s nothing like freshly picked produce, and a Philadelphia workshop will show the public just how easy it can be to grow fruits and vegetables at home.

Master Gardener Nadia Hassani will show how it's possible to harvest a large crop even in small spaces, and containers will be included in the discussion. Both annual and perennial varieties will be reviewed, and the session may be especially helpful to the newbie green thumb.

The attendees will find out which types of vegetables may be best for those with little horticulture experience, and they will also learn how the climate in Philadelphia makes it possible to grow a wide assortment of crops. Hassani will provide examples of how the bounty may be used to prepare dishes from all over the world, and it was noted that parents can even share their new knowledge with their kids so the whole family will be able to get going.

While a function like this may provide the attendees with an introduction to culinary gardening, they may want to learn even more. Providing them each with a basic manual of horticultural tips will make this easy, and these sorts of materials can be ordered from area Print shops.

This late summer introduction to growing food for the kitchen will be on offer on August 28th. The venue for the class is situated at 320 Arch Street in Philadelphia.
