A Philadelphia venue that gives the public an opportunity to get back to nature has a special workshop offer that may help local gardeners invite their feathered friends in.
The Discovery Center is running a Nature Journaling initiative, and it has a session planned for late February. Focused on bird-friendly gardening, it will run for two hours.
Attendees at the activity will discover which bird species are most common in and around Philly, and everyone will walk away with tips for choosing native plants that give them food, shelter, and a place to raise a family. They will use their Journals to record the birds that depend on the Discovery Center during the winter. At the end, they can each take home some seeds for winter sowing, meaning they can treat their birds to a springtime buffet. The session is part of the larger Seed Stewards series, and those interested can attend as many installments as they wish.
Seed starting has become a popular movement in many communities, and a workshop makes it easier to get started. Paper seed Envelopes, promotional Pens, permanent garden markers, dibblers, and other items for such an activity can be ordered from a local printing services provider.
This chance to learn how to invite feathered friends into a Philly garden will be on offer next Saturday, February 21. It will begin at 10:00 am.
